Meet Dr. Brian Dorotik, Pediatric Medical Director at Sky Ridge Medical Center
Tell us a little about your background.
I grew up in Albuquerque, N.M., graduated from the University of New Mexico School of Medicine and completed my residency in Pediatrics at the University of Wisconsin in Madison, Wis. I moved to Denver and started working for CarePoint in 2003 when Sky Ridge opened. I have been working at Rose Medical Center for the past several years, serving as medical director of Pediatric Emergency and Hospitalist Services for CarePoint. I am excited to return to Sky Ridge and look forward to the opportunity to contribute to the team in my new role as pediatric medical director.
Tell us about the new CarePoint services at Sky Ridge.
CarePoint pediatricians have taken care of children in the Emergency Department since the hospital's opening in 2003. In 2008, our pediatric ED services expanded to 24/7 coverage. We now provide in-house newborn nursery and pediatric hospitalist coverage 24/7, in addition to our other pediatric hospitalist team.
What do you find most rewarding about what you do?
It's easy to find reward when you work with children. Helping an ill child feel better and find a smile makes it all worthwhile.
Favorite thing about living in Colorado.
As a child, probably fueled by my love of the Broncos, I thought I would eventually move to the "capital of the Rocky Mountains." Like most people, I believe the quality of life in Colorado is fantastic! My wife and I enjoy running, hanging with our dogs and hitting the slopes in the winter.
