What to Expect
There are two basic components to a bone scan. First, you receive an injection in the arm or hand. In some instances, the radiologist may perform imaging immediately after this injection. Your imaging test will last for about 5 minutes.
Two to four hours later, you will return again for another set of images. These exams can last from 15 to 30 minutes.
You will be able to resume normal activity after the exam.
